It's September now.

For some people, these days mean returning from vacation. Suitcases being unpacked, sand still lingering in the bags, and a bit of reluctance at the thought that everyday life starts again tomorrow.

For some others, however, the summer wasn't like that at all.

It was work.

Longer hours, more people, more demands.

There were children at home, and daily life had to go on without the school schedule.

It was because of family obligations.

It was financial difficulties that left no room for vacations.

Or maybe it was just another quarter of the year, during which everyone else’s needs once again took precedence over your own.

That’s why perhaps the right question at this time isn’t:

«Where did you go on vacation?»

But:

«Did you really get some rest this summer?»

Not every summer is a vacation

We’ve come to associate summer so strongly with relaxation that we almost take it for granted that in September we’ll all return full of energy.

In reality, that's not always the case.

There are professions in which summer is the most demanding time of the entire year.

Workers in the tourism and hospitality industries—people in hotels, retail stores, service sectors, transportation, and seasonal businesses—may spend the summer months working more, not less.

There are also people who may have taken a few days off, but never felt like they had truly stopped working.

And there are those who didn't leave at all.

All of these realities can be summed up in a single word: summer.

Even a wonderful vacation doesn't always mean physical rest

But there's another side to it, too.

You may have had a wonderful time, but your body may still feel tired when you get back.

Many hours in the car or on a plane.

A different bed and pillow.

A lot of walking.

Swimming.

All-nighters.

Hours spent at the beach or on a lounge chair.

Travel, luggage, activities.

Vacations can deeply relax the mind and fill us with wonderful experiences, though this doesn’t necessarily mean that the body has rested just as much.

And that doesn't mean the vacation is canceled at all.

It simply reminds us that Mental and physical rest are not always the same thing.

But there's also the fatigue that isn't visible

It's not just physical labor that tires us out.

We also get tired when we’re constantly available.

When we organize.

When we take care.

When we remember what everyone needs.

When we're trying to juggle work, kids, home, social obligations, and all those little things that no one notices but someone has to do.

And often, that «someone» is us.

So September might roll around, and you might realize something strange:

Summer is over, but you never stopped.

Before you set your goals for September, take a look at where you stand

September feels a bit like a mini New Year.

New programs.

New obligations.

Gym.

Nutrition.

Schools.

Work.

Objectives.

Organization.

And before summer is even over, we start making demands on ourselves again.

But maybe this time it's worth trying something different.

Before you ask:

«What should I do starting in September?»

asked:

«How am I feeling right now?»

How does my body feel?;

Am I well-rested, or did I just keep going because I had to?;

When was the last time I did something without it having to serve a specific purpose?;

When did I ever take care of myself?;

There doesn't have to be a dramatic response.

All you have to do is listen a little more carefully.

Care is not a reward

There is an idea that we have come to understand deeply:

«I'll rest when I'm done.»

When the work is done.

When the kids get a little older.

Once the season is over.

Once I've tidied up the house.

When this difficult week is over.

The problem is that there’s almost always another «when.».

But caring for others doesn't have to be the reward we receive after we've exhausted ourselves.

It may be present in our lives before we get there.

And it can take many forms.

A walk without a cell phone.

An afternoon with no obligations.

More sleep.

Movement.

An hour of quiet.

A massage.

Not because «you deserve it because you’ve worked hard enough.».

But because The body needs care even when it hasn't reached its limits.

A massage can be your moment of respite

For some people, massage is a way to take that break.

An hour when you don't have to plan, respond, help, or take care of anyone else.

Depending on the type of massage and your needs, a session may focus more on relaxation or on areas of the body where you feel muscle tension.

It is not a solution for every type of fatigue, and of course it does not replace sleep, rest, exercise, or medical care when needed.

However, it may be a way to shift the focus to you for a little while.

And sometimes that's exactly what we've forgotten.

What do you want to start September with?;

So perhaps the last day of August doesn't need yet another list of goals.

Maybe we need a short break.

Whether you spent the summer traveling and gaining new experiences, working harder than ever, taking care of others, or simply didn’t find the time you wanted for yourself, the question remains the same:

What do you need right now?;

And perhaps that would be a much better starting point for September.

No:

«Starting tomorrow, I need to do more.».

But:

«From now on, I want to remember myself a little more, too.»

If a massage is one of the ways you want to take care of your body right now, at the Massage in Greece You can search for massage therapists and learn about the services they offer.

Because a new chapter doesn't always have to begin with more effort.

Sometimes it can start with a little more care.
